el tercer dia

This is my third day here in Valencia, Spain. I have absolutely no complaints about my travels here. The German airline Lufthansa was excellent and I highly recommend it. I never knew there were so many Germans in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. There was a short layover in Dusseldorf, where ice covered the runways and then a rather quick flight to Valencia. The residence hall is nothing like in the states. It is privately owned by a Spanish family, which means we are basically spoiled. For instance, someone cleans our rooms for us and cleans up after us after we eat. As for finding vegetarian food, it is really not a problem. Every time I enter the dining hall, the chef takes my plate and returns with something special for me. Que bueno. The first couple days here have been an orientation to the dorm and the city of Valencia. Today, for instance, we got a dose of the buses, trains, and metros. I headed out for a run this morning to see if I could navigate the city on my own and I was of course unsuccessful haha. A forty minute run turned into a two hour journey, but many of the locals were very kind in getting me on my way. I of course miss everyone from home, but it is nice now that everyone has arrived because it gets me out of the room, where I feel most homesick. Tomorrow (12/01) I begin my orientation classes and I believe I leave for Madrid on Thursday which I am excited about. Keep in touch, it is always nice to hear from people at home!!!!!

Your two hour journey must have been exciting? I want to hear more about that...

Well, taking Rosa for a walk so she can blow off some steam...and then off to work...
