Touring Valencia
Hola a todos. I have been here for almost a week. Yesterday was probably the best day to date. I had a class in the morning which is more like a charla (chat), where we basically just talk about the university and such. We do not earn credits for this but it is always nice to get more acquainted with a school that for me is seemingly daunting. In the afternoon, however, we had our history class and got to explore the city for a good 4-5 hours. I hate to tell you but my batteries die so I was unable to take any photos at the time, but I will more than likely be back at these sites so I will take more photos then. We did have the opportunity to see the arm of Saint Vincente, which was pretty cool haha. We also had the opportunity to see one of Valencia's claim to fame- el santo caliz, which is the holy grail, used during the last supper. It was very cool!! Valencia has a very rich history and a confluence of influencias (from the moors, visigoths, romans, jews and of course christians. One other point of interest to me was seeing un rio seco (a dry river). The river Turia is the main river in Valencia but has been moved to another location. The river that has since "dried up" now serves as a giant park of running paths and athletic fields. Again, I will make sure to post some photos once I charge my batteries. After the jaunt around the city, we went to eat in a tapas bar, and the food was very good. I hope that all is well for everyone!!
